Creality Falcon A1 - Smart, Simple, and Seriously Capable

When I first got my hands on the Creality Falcon A1, I was looking for something compact, easy to use, and powerful enough to handle my engraving needs. What I got was that—and a whole lot more.

First Impressions & Setup

Setup? There wasn’t any. The Falcon A1 comes fully assembled, which is a blessing if you’ve spent too much time bolting frames together. Within minutes, I had it powered up and connected to LightBurn. The build quality is solid, and the enclosed design makes it feel like a little industrial workhorse.

Performance & Key Features

This 10W diode laser engraver surprised me with how smart it is. The built-in camera uses a fisheye lens, giving you a full overhead view of the entire workspace. This makes aligning your designs in LightBurn incredibly easy. The automatic material recognition is another welcome touch—it speeds up your workflow without compromising on precision.

The machine can reach speeds of up to 600mm/s, which means jobs get done faster than you’d expect from something so compact. It handled plywood, acrylic, leather, and even a bit of anodised aluminium in my tests.

Noise & Safety

The Falcon A1 is pleasantly quiet during operation. The fans and moving parts produce a soft whirr that’s very manageable, even in a small room. And in terms of safety? It’s got you covered. There’s an emergency stop button, lid sensors, and a smoke exhaust system that works well for indoor use.

What I Love

1. Built in camera gives a real-time workspace view to help place engravings.

2. Pre-assembled and super beginner-friendly

3. Engraves a variety of materials cleanly and quickly

4. Quiet operation and solid safety features

What Could Be Better

1. Cutting depth is limited for thicker woods

2. Some learning curve for software setup (LightBurn)

3. The fisheye view from the built-in camera can distort the perspective, making it less precise for exact placement at times.

Favourite Projects So Far

I’ve engraved custom wooden coins, small plaques, and detailed layered scenes with this thing. The fisheye camera preview has made design placement so much easier—it takes the guesswork out of engraving.

For anyone looking to get into laser engraving or needing a reliable backup machine that doesn’t hog desk space, the Creality Falcon A1 is a fantastic option. It’s fast, smart, and a joy to use.

If you’re already in the 3D printing space, this complements your setup beautifully. And if you’re just starting out with lasers—this is a great place to begin.
