Follow-Up: Laser Engraved Denim Jacket – Post-Wash Results

Hey folks! Not long ago I shared my first go at laser engraving a denim jacket using my Creality Falcon Pro 10W, with a Foo Fighters–inspired design. The engraving came out beautifully and I treated it with Scotchgard to help protect the fabric before washing.

Here’s the update after the first wash:

The Scotchgard actually held up well—the engraved detail is still visible.

BUT the fabric took a serious hit. The engraved area became fragile, and the upper section tore during the wash.

It looks kind of badass in a worn, vintage way… but definitely not ideal for long-term wear.

What I’ve learned:

1. Machine washing engraved denim is not recommended—even on a gentle cycle.

2. Air-drying and hand-washing are safer if you want to keep the design intact.

3. Next time I’ll try lighter engraving settings and maybe use a newer, thicker jacket.

Still happy I gave it a shot—and I’ll definitely be doing another version in the future! Appreciate all the support and feedback from the group. Keep experimenting!
